Karwa Chauth is an well known fasting recognition honed by married Hindu ladies; to look for long life and welfare of their Husband.

On this favorable day, ladies keep day-long fast and offer prayer to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

It is believed that those who observe this fast are blessed with life long and a health. In the Indian culture, Hindu women observed this fast for their husbands.

Amid the day ladies refuse nourishment and water, and during the evening after moonrise they break their fasts by perusing the 'vrat katha' and playing out the 'puja vidhi'.
